The v3.2 stress index is a six-axis composite of energy and food exposure, geopolitical pressure, fiscal headroom, demography and supply concentration, normalised to a 0–1 scale.
Ghana produces oil and gas offshore and exports cocoa and gold, but a severe debt crisis and currency depreciation have strained its ability to import refined fuel and food. Hydropower from the Akosombo dam and gas-fired plants supply its grid. Cereal output falls short of demand.
Ghana relies on Lake Volta for hydropower; drought lowers its level and cuts generation.
