Libya holds Africa's largest oil reserves and depends almost entirely on crude exports, but a decade of conflict and political division has made its output highly volatile, with fields and ports repeatedly blockaded. With minimal agriculture in a desert country, it imports nearly all of its food.
Libya has no permanent rivers or lakes and depends on the fossil-water Great Man-Made River and desalination.
