Der Stress-Index v3.2 ist ein Sechs-Achsen-Komposit aus Energie- und Nahrungsmittelexponierung, geopolitischem Druck, fiskalischem Spielraum, Demografie und Versorgungskonzentration, normalisiert auf eine 0–1-Skala.
Der Irak ist der zweitgrößte OPEC-Produzent und überwiegend abhängig von Rohöl für Staatseinnahmen und Exporte. Er fackelt einen Großteil seines Begleitgases ab und muss Gas und Strom aus Iran importieren, was das Stromnetz fragil macht. Wiederkehrende Dürre und Versalzung haben die inländische Getreideproduktion verringert und die Abhängigkeit von Weizen- und Reisimporten erhöht.
